Military TV-7 D/U Mutual Conductance Tube Tester

The original meter is calibrated at 2365 ohms and is 200uA. A new 150uF capacitor was added to the meter, and the meter is very accurate and has very smooth movement.

Replaced the copper oxide rectifier (CR101) with modern diodes.

Replaced the 100uF bathtub capacitor with a new 150uF capacitor.

Replaced the AC cord with a new modern and grounded one.
This TV-7D/U was not upgraded by the military, as many were, with a grounded AC cord which entailed drilling a hole near the line adjust rheostat for the new AC cord, and then plugging the hole where the original cord was. Personally I like the cord where it is on this one which is out of the way.

The three 47 ohm resistors on the grid, plate, and screen switches are 2 watt resistors, and not the 1/2 watt resistors that burn out.

Replaced the .1uF with a modern one with a higher voltage value.

Replaced the 83 mercury rectifier with a solid state version made here and put the 5Y3GT that was in the tester back in and it tested as good as new.

This TV-7D/U is exceptionally clean and has little signs of wear. Has all three of the military socket savers on the 7-pin min, noval, and octal sockets. All the voltages are within specs and about as close to perfect as you can get. This TV-7 D/U is perfectly calibrated so you will not have to worry about sending it to someone for calibration.
